The Island of Madeira, Portugal where my dad is from is 500 miles west of Morocco. It is covered in Banana's, Sugar cane, grapes, tropical fruit, Eucalyptus trees and mountain peeks.
Because of it's location it was highly pirated from the time it was settled by the Portuguese in the late 1400's for about 400 years.
People on the island became so used to it, that they built pirate hiding holes in secret parts of their houses and nuns eventually took all the churches gold and hid high in the mountains…A valley up in the highest mountains called Valley Of The Nuns…Curral das Freiras...
